Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro LED combo pod light with bracket. This three inch LED combo pod light is gonna be great for seeing near and far. This is gonna give you bright light with reduced glare for improved visibility and safety. Now as you can see, I have this connected to my power source already, and what you're currently seeing is one of my favorite features of this light. It's the backlight, but more on that later.

Also, I do wanna show you that I do have this installed to the included bracket. So you're gonna be able to use this bracket to install virtually anywhere on your vehicle. And another plus with this bracket is you're gonna be able to adjust the angle of the light wherever you want it. And once you get that angle, you'll just use the hardware on the bracket to tighten that light down right where you want it. You also get the hardware that you're gonna need to install the bracket with the light to your vehicle.

Now, I do have a bracket here that's not installed just to show you what it looks like. It is constructed of durable aluminum, so this is going to hold up really well for you. It's gonna hold up against the elements. And let me go ahead and shut my studio lights off here and go for a wide view just to show you this backlight. So this backlight is amber and it's gonna give you a great stylish touch to your vehicle or it's gonna give you more visibility when you're not using the main beam.

Now, speaking of the main beam, let me fire that up. And so as you can see, there's quite a difference between that backlight and that main beam. And then I'm gonna turn this light to the wall behind me just to show you that beam pattern. That combo beam pattern is a mix between driving, a driving beam and a flood beam. And so this light is gonna be great for all-around use.

This light has a color temperature of 3,000 Kelvin, and that yellow color is gonna be great for bad weather. It's gonna cut through rain and fog. And this light has a raw lumen rating of 5,220 lumens and a measured lumen rating of 2,700 lumens. I'm gonna go ahead and kick my studio lights back on here real quick. And even with my bright overhead lights on, you can see just how bright this light is and you can still see that beam. And let's go ahead and take another closeup look at it. This does have a peak beam intensity of 33,406 candela. Now, candela ratings measure the directional light output and it's how anything is rated where you want light shining in a specific direction. Lumen ratings are just for omnidirectional output, like your regular light bulbs where you want light shining in all directions. But for a more detailed description of these ratings, you can visit this product page on our website or Diode Dynamics provides additional information that you can find. Now, the power draw on that main beam is 2.7 amps, and the backlight is 0.03 amps. And this light is designed with a newer technology known as custom TIR optics. TIR stands for total internal reflection. So unlike the older technology that uses reflectors or simple projector lenses which aren't real efficient at focusing all the light where you want it, this custom designed large TIR optic actually collects and focuses all of that light forward very efficiently. And then instead of having another external lens, certain lens patterns have been molded directly into this lens surface. So that's gonna prevent the normal efficiency loss that you see with an outside lens. As you probably know, when you shine light through any type of glass or plastic, you're going to lose some of that light. You could lose up to about 10% of that light just from it shining through. So by making it as a part of this lens, you're not gonna lose efficiency. You're actually gonna gain some efficiency. Now, this does include the industry standard integrated Deutsche style connector. I am using this pigtail to power the light, but here's another one, so you see that connector, and so that's gonna plug right into the back of the light and it's gonna secure with a clip in there. And then looking at the bottom of this light, as I hope you can see there, we do have a breather patch that's gonna prevent any moisture buildup. And we got a set of heat sinks here at the back of the light that are gonna do a great job of dissipating the heat quickly to increase the longevity of this light. Now, this light has been built with high-intensity LED chips, and this does feature a durable powder-coated aluminum construction. And that heavy duty construction is gonna do a great job of withstanding extreme temperatures, corrosion, and vibration, and testing is completed to SAE standards, just like your factory lighting components on your vehicle. Now, an interesting fact, Diode Dynamics actually designed and engineered and assembled this light right down the highway from us at their headquarters here in the greater St. Louis area. And let me give you some overall measurements. Looking at the width first, looking at the overall width from end to end, we're sitting at about 3-1/4 inches wide. That's gonna be the same measurement for our height. And then when you add that bracket in, that's gonna of course increase the height. So from the top of the light all the way to the base of our bracket, we're gonna be sitting right at about 3-3/4 inches tall. And then looking at the depth from the front of the light to the end of our heat sinks, we're sitting right at about 2-3/4 inches deep. Now, this light does draw high current and it does require adequately sized wiring for safe operation. So if you're not using a Diode Dynamics wiring harness, you do wanna be sure that you're using wiring that's 16 gauge or larger.
